The Kansas State Board of Nursing requires nurses to complete 30 contact hours of continuing nursing education (CNE) every two years, and because the Board accepts CNE approved by a board of nursing or national nursing organization, an approved CPR, ACLS or PALS course that awards contact hours can contribute.
First aid and CPR are required topics in the Kansas state-approved home health aide training course (K.A.R. 28-51-112), so home health aides and certified nurse aides providing hands-on care are expected to be trained to act in an adult or senior medical emergency.
Under K.A.R. 30-47-806, before a license is issued each Kansas foster applicant must complete an instructor-led first-aid course with a post-test and an instructor-led CPR course with a post-skills test appropriate to the children's ages, enforced by the Department for Children and Families (DCF), with current CPR certification maintained.
Online CPR and first aid training is recognized in Kansas for personal, childcare licensing, and employer purposes; OSHA does not prohibit online training but recommends hands-on skills practice, and blended training with a practical skills assessment is accepted.
